So, if you are planning to enjoy a few days holiday in Barcelona and you want to spend a day on the beach or relax by the pool, grab your pen and paper because we are going to show you the best of the best for an unforgettable holiday.

The 3 best beaches in the centre of Barcelona

1. Playa de la Barceloneta

You can easily reach the Playa de la Barceloneta on the yellow line. From the metro station it’s only a 10-minute walk following the Paseo del Born until you reach the sea. This is one of the most popular beaches in the city, and the closest one to our boutique hotel in Barcelona, so be careful as to when you decide to visit, as in summer it can be difficult to find a spot on the sand as the multitude of tourists can be found sunbathing and enjoying refreshing cocktails.

2. Playa del Somorrostro

The playa del Somorrostro owes its name to the shanti district of Somorrostro which used to be in the area, but that became completely extinct by 1966. It is one of the most recognisable areas of Barcelona, as it’s not just a beach, it’s much more than a public space to cool off and relax, it is also part of the historic memories of the city. Somorrostro naturally has a very central location and comfortable access via public transport. Therefore, it is one of the most popular areas with local young people and also with tourists.

3. Playa Nova Icària

Nova Icària is considered as one of the quietest beaches in the city and only a few minutes by public transport from our boutique hotel in Barcelona. This is possibly the reason why those who visit it tend to stay much longer. You will find mostly families with children and groups of friends. Many bathers also walk to this beach.

It is a beach with a great range of equipment as it offers many types of leisure activities. It has a play area and a ping pong table touching the Bogatell jetty, as well as two volleyball courts near the Olympic Port.

It also has an area for those with reduced mobility with an assisted swimming area in order to make it easier for those with disabilities or reduced mobility to get in and out of the water.
