If so, the Independent Label Market is a must on your list of visits if you are in Barcelona in March.  This event started in 2011 with the intention of providing a space for independent record labels to show and sell their products.  Since then, the event has taken place in cities such as Berlin and London and although vinyl records are especially important in the Market, there is lots more to see.

This event will take place on March 18th and 19th in the CRAC, the Centre of Resources for entrepreneurs and citizens

Discover the Tapas Spanish Design for Food

Do you like the idea of a fusion between design and gastronomy? If so, this exhibition will surely fascinate you. After being shown in cities such as Tokyo, Miami, Washington, Seul, Toronto or Madrid, it has now arrived in Barcelona so that we can see creations from the last 25 years.  There are contributions from “rock star” chefs like Ferran Adria and designers like Luki HuberA total of 250 exhibits connected with gastronomy which will show you just how art and cuisine can interact with each other.

Fira de Santa Llúcia Barcelona’s Christmas Market

The 230th anniversary of the Fira de Santa Llúcia one of the most traditional Christmas markets in Barcelona takes place from the 25th November to the 23rd December. Located like every year at Avinguda de la Catedral just 2000 meters from our Boutique Hotel Well And Come. The Fira is only a 20-minute walk, but if you prefer to get there via transport, the best options are public transport due to all the traffic jam that public holidays and weekends can cause. For example, by metro with line 4 which stops at Verdaguer station which will take you to Jaume I stop from where you’ll walk out to Avinguda de la Catedral (where the Fair takes place).

Fira de Santa Llúcia

The Fira de Santa Llúcia registers its first date in 1786, also known as the “girls fair”as stories tell that the young single ladies from the surroundings wore their best galas and accompanied by their mothers used this event to find a husband.

Even though the Fira is celebrated during one month, Santa Llúcia day falls on the 13th December, a day when a lot of people go to the cathedral to light a candle in the chapel.

The Christmas Market

The Association Fira de Santa Llúcia and Barcelona’s City Council work together to offer the best possible fair. Aiming for visitors to leave the Fira thinking they have been in a mountain village in the middle of the Christmas season.

This year the Fira with 287 stands, 123 in the Nativity Scenes and Figures sector, 96 in the Greenery and Plants sector, 64 in the Crafts sector and 4 in the Simbombes sector.

 

Activities and Competitions

During the celebration of the Fira different activities take place: the Giant Tió from 10:30am to 1:30 pm and from 4:30 to 7:30 pm on holidays, and 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on weekdays. And the traditional parade Carrasa de Nadal de Barcelona on the 17th December at 10:45 am.
